Sweat is pouring down my face,
in this sweltering hot place.
It's dark, but lit by embers of light,
fiery coals lighting up the night.
Amidst the heat, I feel a cold chill.
I turn around, though against my will.
I see him standing over there,
those red-sunken eyes give me an ugly glare.
I know where I am, I already know his name.
Lucifer is he, the angel of shame.
~Come and join me~
he says with a grin.
~Never~
I say, for he's the king of sin.
His hideous smile turns into a frown.
He's not even worthy of a burned paper crown.
He looks at me, eyes written with hate.
He makes jewels appear, this is his bait.
~You could have all of this~
he says motioning to the gold.
~What do you say?~
I said
~I say I'm not sold~
He tries many things, I accept nothing at all.
He grows angry and begins to shout
~Well what do you want? What are you all about?~
I said
~I want one thing, and that thing is love. You can never give me this, for you hate all of the above~
He looks frightening now, but I must stay strong.
If I do, I'll be safe before long.
He starts coming towards me,
bony fingers are bared.
Reaching out for me, now I am scared.
I do the only thing I can think of,
I drop to my knees and pray.
~Our father who art in heaven..~
this is what I say.
The devil stops dead, light shooting from the ground.
Heavenly grace, now can be found.
I know I am safe from the Devil's sly dare.
I will never turn to him, this I swear.
